  Introductory Program

Music for Little Mozarts is a great way to start your late preschool or kindergarten student in piano lessons.  This award winning curriculum is the perfect way to introduce your 4 to 6 year old to learning music.  One-on-one lessons prepare students for continued piano study in a fun way.

The Music Lesson Book is the core of the course. Students are introduced to new musical concepts and the performance of pieces at the piano. The story of Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse™ sets the stage for music study at the beginning and continues on each subsequent page. Other characters throughout the book serve as a springboard for introducing students to major composers from the four main musical style periods.

New concepts are introduced and carefully reinforced throughout the book. Each page contains a fragment of the story as background for each new concept or new piece of music, as well as practice instructions to read to the student. Many pages also offer helpful hints to the teacher and parents for effective instruction and practice.  The music was written to develop finger dexterity in young children and includes clever lyrics that will appeal to the student's imagination. Accompaniments for the teacher or parent are notated for each piece.

After completing "Little Mozarts" the student will be ready for Alfred's Premiere Piano Course.

The reading approach is comprehensive-a blend of intervallic, multi-key and Middle C. There is much less focus on the uncomfortable Middle C position with both thumbs on Middle C than other approaches. In APPC, students learn to recognize landmark notes and move by intervals from those landmark notes-yet the music is much more melodic than most intervallic methods. Students learn to name notes, read them by interval without relating them to a position. They also move around the keyboard freely.

MusicScholars students receive the Value Pack, which includes a Theory, Lesson , and Performance Book. Beautifully presented and intelligently paced, the Lesson Books combine unusually attractive music and lyrics. The books feature note reading, rhythm reading, sight-reading and technical workouts. Each piece on the CD was performed and recorded at both a

performance tempo and a slower practice tempo.  Theory Books are correlated page-for-page with the LessonBooks, each new musical concept is reinforced through additional fun-filled writing, listening and playing exercises. With games and puzzles added to composing and creative activities, students retain concepts and learn more thoroughly.  The Performance Book contains appealing repertoire with charming lyrics reinforces and enhances the learning of new musical concepts introduced in the Lesson Books. Includes attractive music created by internationally acclaimed composers in a variety of styles, plus tips on how to perform more musically. Each piece on the CD was performed and recorded at both a performance tempo and a slower practice tempo

The Premier Online Assistant provides YouTube videos of each lesson so students can review each lesson at home.

Advanced
  Advanced / Adult Program

Adult beginners (or those wanting to refresh their previous musical training) will be guided through a variety of learning resources that meet their skill levels and interests, which may include the study of classical or contemporary music, as well as improvisation or jazz .

Lesson plans are custom designed to perfect individual ability and meet personal interest goals for a practical application of musical skills, whether it be for advanced musical training or for personal satisfaction.  Students will be offered recital and other performance opportunities to build confidence and experience.  Students are encouraged to "jam" and will quite often play duets with their teacher and other students, or along with pre-recorded CD accompaniments.  Ear training and theory are essential, and students will be encouraged to write music and improvise.
